Throwing a last-minute fete to send off 2016 with a bang? If so, you’ll need to do more than just provide a couple bottles of champagne. Some quick finger foods will keep guests happy and content, and make your party a bigger success. So what do you do in a snap when you need some quick finger foods that look like they were way more time-intensive than they actually were? Here’s a few ideas for elegant New Years Eve finger foods.

Stuffed Dates

There’s nothing easier than stuffing a date with some blue cheese and topping it off with some bacon. Besides taking a whole 15 minutes to prepare and make (and most of that time is spent cooking the bacon), stuffed dates just look fancy. There’s never been a more “adult” finger food, which is why it’s perfect for New Years Eve. Whip up a batch, arrange them on a nice serving tray so that guests can mingle around with their snacks.

Dipped Shortbread Cookies

Ok, maybe we spoke too soon when we said that the stuffed dates were the easiest things on the menu. In fact, you really can’t go wrong with something sweet and these dipped shortbread cookies look great and work perfectly when you’re in a jam. You can make your own shortbread cookies, or you can save time and buy storebought. Either way, once they’re cooled, dip one end into a caramel sauce and then immediately into a bowl of chocolate sprinkles. Arrange on a plate and voila!

Pimento Cheese and Bacon Crostini

If you’re going to have finger foods at a New Years Eve party, it’s a good idea to provide something a little more substantial. NYE is known as a night of drinking, so having some New Years Eve finger foods that are more filling is a good idea. These pimento cheese and bacon crostinis are a fun play on the more traditional crostini topping of bruschetta. Or if you want, try other interesting toppings to give your guests more variety.

Brie and Red Pepper Tarts

These brie and red pepper jelly tarts look a lot more time intensive than they really are, and that’s kind of a key to making quick New Years Eve finger foods that look elegant but are easy to make. Frozen pastry shells can be purchased at pretty much any grocery store, and topping them off with a slice of brie and some red pepper jelly completes the work. Red pepper jelly can almost always be found in the “foreign foods” aisle of most US grocery stores, but you can also substitute it for something sweeter if you prefer.
